It was reported in the last District 'A' meeting that the WRU said that Bedwas did NOT want to be considered for the Play Offs, which could lead to qualification for the British and Irish Cup. If this is true then surely this is disheartening for the players and supporters alike. A very strange decision considering that inclusion in this cup would bring in much needed revenue to any club.
If this is not true then why didn't the committee of Bedwas bother to send a representative to challenge the validity of the WRU's instruction to the meeting?
See you all on Saturday.

I have received the following response from Mr Mark Lewis, Chairman of Bedwas RFC:-
I would like to respond to the posting made by someone who seems to be from the Cross Keys Club with regards to the British & Irish Cup.
Firstly NO ONE from the Bedwas committee has said to the WRU that we do not want to be considered for the play offs however it needs to be made clear that there are two WRU Criteria’s this season. One criteria that would allows Bedwas to remain in the premiership and one that allows Bedwas to be considered for the British & Irish Cup.
We have put forward our application on the former which allows us to stay in the Premiership. The B&I Cup criteria is a challenge to far for the club for next season given the huge investment that would be required. This is not to say that we wouldn’t want to be considered in the future.
My initial thought’s of the new play off structure was that they were for league position, which Bedwas will be striving to be as high up the league as possible and would love to make the top 8.
It seems though that even if we came eighth or above as we have not put an application to make the B&I criteria we wouldn’t be able to play in the play off’s which is a shame because 1. We would love the extra games for revenue and 2. We would want the best league position we could attain.
By the way, there were two Bedwas committee representatives at the District A meeting. I am though very interested to know why someone from Cross Keys is so interested in the welfare of Bedwas RFC? I think our Supporters and Players know that this current committee are only committed to the prosperity of their club in a controlled and sensible manner.
